LateRooms.com.au - Set a World Record at Cairns Ukulele Festival
The organisers are aiming to break the record for the largest ukulele ensemble.

CAIRNS, AUSTRALIA, May 27, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Musicians are expected to flock to the 2011 Cairns Ukulele Festival (CUF) next month for an ambitious attempt to break a world record.

The organisers are hoping to set a new benchmark for the largest ukulele ensemble, having tried and failed to achieve this goal at last year's event.

With the bar currently standing at 851, the team behind the festival have registered the attempt with Guinness World Records and are hoping to attract 1,000 players to the Courthouse Hotel on July 2nd.

All those who take part in the challenge will have to join in with a five-minute piece of music, which will be confirmed closer to the time.

"This is your chance to be part of history," the organisers said on the festival's official website.

Other highlights of the CUF include a packed bill of star performers from around the world.

Brittni Paiva from Hawaii, The Sweet Hollywaiians from Japan and Matt 'Jumpingflea' Dahlberg from the US are among the big names on the bill.

The event runs from July 1st to 3rd. Tickets for concerts at the Tanks Art Centre on the final day cost between AU$20 and AU$35.

Music lovers can use LateRooms.com.au to choose from a generous selection of last minute accommodation in Cairns.
