Nouvelle Vague will bring their classy bossa nova cover versions to Munich's Theaterfabrik on January 25th.

MUNICH, GERMANY, December 21, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Nouvelle Vague, the French musical collective known for their distinctive cover versions of post-punk and new wave classics, are due to perform in Munich next month.

The show could appeal to people in the mood for something a little bit different, as the group's repertoire of sophisticated, contemporary takes on well-known source material has been said to sound quite unlike anything else.

Taking place at the German city's Theaterfabrik venue on Tuesday January 25th, the gig is due to begin at 21:00 local time (doors will open at 20:00) and people staying in Munich hotels can buy tickets for EUR25 (GBP21.20).

Formed by producers Marc Collin and Olivier Libaux, Nouvelle Vague released their self-titled debut album to critical acclaim in 2004.

The LP featured lush bossa nova and lounge versions of Joy Division's Love Will Tear Us Apart, Teenage Kicks by The Undertones and Depeche Mode's Just Can't Get Enough.

This provided the blueprint for the group's subsequent two albums, which have included reinterpretations of Blue Monday by New Order, Blondie's Heart of Glass and the Talking Heads classic Road to Nowhere.

However, the third record, simply titled 3, deviated from this formula by inviting the original artists to sing on new versions of their songs.

Previously, Collin and Libaux relied on a revolving line-up of French singers that has included Melanie Pain, Gerald Toto and Camille Dalmais.

This new approach produced Nouvelle Vague songs such as All My Colours featuring Ian McCulloch of Echo and the Bunnymen, while Depeche Mode's Martin Gore appeared on a version of Master and Servant.

In its review of the album, BBC Music described it as "a sublimely inventive concoction of clashing but surprisingly complementary moods and styles".
