Andre Rieu is set to perform at the ISS Dome in Dusseldorf with his Johann Strauss Orchestra.

DUSSELDORF, GERMANY, December 10, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- People visiting Dusseldorf early next year will have an opportunity to see classical music star Andre Rieu in concert.

The Dutch violinist and conductor is due to perform at the city's ISS Dome on Saturday January 8th 2011, when he will demonstrate his formidable talent and famously energetic performance style.

Credited with helping to spur the revival of waltz music, Rieu is perhaps most famous as the founder of the Johann Strauss Orchestra.

The ensemble, which began performing in 1987, is known for presenting classical works with a sense of fun and frivolity not often associated with large concert halls.

Rieu has explained that he aims to make classical music as accessible as possible by removing certain formal aspects of the experience that could "intimidate" causal listeners.

"My orchestra consists of young, enthusiastic musicians, who put their heart and soul into the music every evening when they play in our concerts," he explains on his official website.

Founded with just 12 musicians, the orchestra has since expanded to include 50 members and will be accompanying Rieu once again on his latest tour around Europe.

A number of German dates have been confirmed, including performances in Berlin, Bremen, Frankfurt and Hannover.

Dusseldorf hotel guests will have a chance to experience the group's commitment to fun and audience participation if they head to the concert at the ISS Dome.

Tickets are priced between EUR53 and EUR83 (GBP44.80 and GBP70.20), with the music due to begin at 20:00 local time.
