Dusseldorf's Stahlwerk Strasse will provide the venue for an MGMT show on November 29th.
DUSSELDORF, GERMANY, October 10, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- MGMT are set to bring their unique brand of experimental indie pop to Dusseldorf next month.
The Brooklyn-based band will perform at the German city's Stahlwerk Strasse venue on Monday November 29th as they continue to tour in support of their second album, Congratulations.
Released in April this year, the record surprised many fans by departing from the hook-laden sound perfected on the group's hit debut album Oracular Spectacular in 2008.
However, singles such as It's Working, Flash Delirium and the title track have been well received, while some critics praised MGMT for exploring previously uncharted territory and refusing to rehash ideas from their first record.
In 2008, radio playlists around the world were dominated by Time to Pretend, Kids and Electric Feel, the trio of catchy singles taken from Oracular Spectacular.
However, founding member Ben Goldwasser told NME in January this year that he and songwriting partner Andrew VanWyngarden approached the making of Congratulations in an entirely different way to their debut album.
"We'd rather people hear the whole album as an album and see what tracks jump out rather than the ones that get played on the radio," he explained.
"There definitely isn't a Time to Pretend or a Kids on the album."
MGMT's desire to create a more immersive album experience resulted in a sprawling, psychedelic record, aided by former Spacemen 3 founder Peter Kember on production duties.
People with Dusseldorf hotel bookings will be able to hear tracks from the album performed live by heading to the Stahlwerk Strasse concert next month. Tickets are currently available online for EUR29.80 (GBP26.10) plus booking fee.
The group are also due to play in Hamburg on November 30th before heading off for dates in Norway, Sweden and Denmark in December.
