LateRooms.com - Dusseldorf to Welcome Violin Star David Garrett
David Garrett is set to give a demonstration of his virtuoso violin ability at Dusseldorf's ISS Dome.

DUSSELDORF, GERMANY, September 21, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Classical music fans with Dusseldorf hotel reservations have an opportunity to see David Garrett perform in the city later this year.

The virtuoso violinist is due to play at the ISS Dome on Saturday November 6th as part of his autumn tour through Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Entitled Rock Symphonies after his latest album, the European jaunt looks set to confirm Garrett's status as one of the foremost classical crossover artists in the world.

Born in Aachen to an American father and German mother, he picked up his first violin at the age of four and was soon recognised as an exciting prodigy on the instrument.

Garrett had appeared on stage with the Hamburg Philharmonic Orchestra by the time he was ten years old and signed a lucrative recording contract three years later.

As a young man, he continued to develop his musicianship by studying at the prestigious Juilliard School in New York, where he was mentored by the legendary Israeli violinist Itzhak Perlman.

In 2007, Garrett released the album Virtuoso, which saw him reach a wide audience with its versions of Nothing Else Matters by Metallica, Pachelbel's Canon and Somewhere from West Side Story.

The performer has said he hopes his work will introduce more young people to the joys of classical music, by combining it with elements of pop and rock.

"In my eye, the Paganinis, Liszts and Chopins of the 19th century were the world's first rock stars," Garrett explains on his website.

"Great composers have always incorporated elements which were popular in their day."

Garrett's violin technique was described by his American composition teacher Eric Ewazen as "spectacular, heartfelt and expressive".

Tickets for his performance in Dusseldorf, which will begin at 20:00 local time, are priced between EUR54 and EUR77 (GBP45.10 and GBP64.30).
