Cult indie band Broken Social Scene are heading to Sydney for a performance at the Metro Theatre.
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, June 08, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Indie music fans have a good reason to book hotels in Sydney later this summer, with Broken Social Scene due to visit the city as part of their world tour.
Making their third trip to Australian shores, the cult Canadian band are due to play Sydney's Metro Theatre on Wednesday August 4th following two gigs in Melbourne.
Broken Social Scene were formed by Toronto-based musicians Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning in 1999, releasing their debut album Feel Good Lost two years later.
They won acclaim for their second long-player You Forgot It In People in 2002 and have gone on to put out two more albums, culminating with last month's Forgiveness Rock Record.
Known for their loose approach to band personnel, Broken Social Scene tend to employ a revolving cast of like-minded musicians centred around Drew and Canning.
Although the current line-up is thought to number about eight members, up to 19 people have been known to appear on stage when the band perform.
Tickets for the Sydney show, which gets underway at 20:00 local time, are priced at AU$45.
Located on George Street, the Metro Theatre is considered to be one of the city's leading live venues for independent rock acts.
