LateRooms.com - Prague Prepares for United Islands Music Festival
The United Islands festival offers a programme of free music events based on the Vltava River in Prague.
PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC, May 22, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- People booking hotels in Prague next month may find their visit coincides with United Islands, one of the city's most entertaining annual music events.
Featuring over 100 acts from ten different countries, the three-day festival offers an eclectic programme of free musical entertainment held on and around the Vltava River.
Bands will take to stages erected on the river's Strelecky, Slovansky and Detsky islands to provide visitors with more than 150 hours of free music, while events will also take place on the surrounding river banks.
This year's United Islands runs from June 24th to 26th and a large number of participating acts have already been confirmed.
Spanish singer Amparo Sanchez, who has previously performed under the name Amparanoia, is due to open the festival.
"We are overjoyed that this Andalusia star, who [recently] released her long-awaited solo record, is making her first appearance in the Czech Republic at the United Islands festival," said David Gaydecka, one of the event's organisers.
Meanwhile, the UK music scene will be represented by The Cinematics, a Glasgow-based rock band who released their second album Love and Terror in July last year.
The Vltava is the longest river in the Czech Republic and Prague's Charles Bridge, which crosses the waterway, is one of the city's most famous landmarks.
