Anyone who enjoys spending an evening at the theatre should head to Hong Kong next month for the Chinese Opera Festival.

HONG KONG, HK, May 22, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- People who enjoy spending an evening watching operatic shows should consider booking accommodation in Hong Kong during the Chinese Opera Festival.

Running from June 4th until July 21st, anyone visiting the city will be able to take in a range of different operatic performances from different Chinese regions.

Throughout the festival, 12 troupes will take to the stage, offering a wide variety of shows.

Among the genres to be covered will be Cantonese Opera, Peking Opera, Yue Opera and Sichuan Opera.

Some shows will comprise a selection of classic numbers from a particular genre, while others will be full-length operatic performances.

Various venues around the city will host the shows, while there will also be talks, exhibitions and a symposium about the varied genres within Chinese opera for any enthusiasts who want to know more.

Some of the talks that make up part of the festival are free to attend, while prices for the individual shows vary.

The event has been organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department in China, with tickets for most of the shows available through urbtix.hk.
